Kaden, The Modern Artist

I'm not a huge fan of modern art.  I can appreciate some of it, but I don't dig most of it.

When I lived in London, I visited The National Gallery countless times.

I visited the Tate Modern once.

Somewhat shameful?

Maybe.

It just wasn't my thing.

My modern and post-modern lit classes in college weren't my favorite either.  Reading The Crying of Lot 49 and The Day of the Locust was about as enjoyable as a visit to the dentist.  (As an aside, I am terrified of the dentist.)

So imagine my chagrin when Kaden created this over the weekend and told us it was art:

I honestly think it rivals some of the stuff I've seen in actual art museums.  He's since added his bathroom stool, Chad's old retainer case and swim trunks, Everett's baby blanket and pacifier, and a pair of sunglasses to the mix.

Here's another piece, discovered in what WAS our empty filing cabinet drawer:

Yes, that is the corner of his brother's social security card thrown in with a pair of his pajamas and a football.

He's nothing if not creative.

  1. I'm not a fan of modern art either, including modern (interpretive) dance. But he definitely is creative! We have "art" like that going on at our house too. :)
